DeKalb County SWCD Offers Soil Survey And Well Covering | The star

AUBURN – The DeKalb County Soil & Water Conservation District has expanded its District Cost Share Program to include soil tests for home gardens and abandoned well covers. The co-payment program is available to DeKalb County real estate.

DCSP will cover 75% of the total cost of the basic garden soil test, with a maximum of two tests per landowner per year. The program is aimed at home gardens and is not intended for use in agricultural areas. The sampling area must not exceed 1 acre.

The cost sharing program provides 75% of the total cost of capping abandoned wells, with a maximum of $ 500 for holes 4 “or larger, or $ 300 for holes up to and including 2”. The property on which the disused well is located must be in the district of DeKalb.

DCSP also offers co-payments for other conservation practices such as septic tank replacement, invasive tree removal, tree planting, pollination areas, and rain gardens / rain barrels.
