Teenage bandmaster detained at home for growing cannabis

Hyderabad: Another person was detained in the city for growing a cannabis plant in the courtyard of his home.

According to Saifabad Police, Mohammed Arif, 19, a local bandmaster, addicted to marijuana and a regular user, found it difficult to get his daily supplies after police recently cracked down on the ganja vendor in Dhoolpet and Mangalhat. Arif is said to have sown the seeds in front of his house and the plants grew slowly. He had planned to use the same for personal consumption once they are fully grown.

Following a lead, the police searched the house and confiscated four plants that were growing in a corner of the courtyard of Arif’s house in Lakdikapul. A case under the NDPS Act was initiated against Arif, who was arrested and brought before the court.
