3 arrests for growing cannabis in Sardinia – German

(ANSA) – ROME, NOVEMBER 23 – Italian police arrested three people on Tuesday on suspicion of growing hemp plants for cannabis on the island of Sardinia.

The police seized 1,700 hemp flowers worth 17 million euros in the case.

The crops were grown in around 500 locations in Oristano, Mogoro and Ghilarza, including farms, sheep pens, outbuildings and land.

The police also confiscated illegally held weapons.

About 16,000 illegal plants were confiscated.

The hemp contained an active ingredient of cannabis, which was above the legal limit, said the police. (ANSA).
