Essex crime: man arrested on suspicion of growing cannabis in Essex car wash
A man was arrested on suspicion of growing cannabis in a car wash on Canvey Island, Essex police said.
Officials searched a car wash on Canvey Island at 7:20 a.m. on Tuesday morning (November 30), where they discovered more than 70 cannabis plants growing under controlled conditions.
The plants were kept in three rooms accessible only through a hole in one wall from a separate room where the suspect slept and ate.

The police carried out the search with an arrest warrant under Section 23 of the Drug Abuse Act.
PC Stuart Sheridan directed the operation.
He said, “The car wash was in a shipyard and, thanks to information from the public, we were able to obtain an arrest warrant that we carried out.
“When we entered the car wash, an Albanian gentleman came and opened the door. He was arrested for growing cannabis.
“I think it’s a fantastic result. It’s a blow to Canvey Island crime and takes a little more cannabis off the streets. “
A video posted on Facebook by Essex Police Department shows the extent of the operation the suspect is doing using technical equipment to control conditions inside the rooms.
